what is infanticide? 

 The intentional killing of a very young kid (less than a year old) is known as infanticide.it was a common practice in the past and in many countries, accepted by various cultures worldwide. Even though it is now regarded as a morally repugnant act, it is nevertheless carried out.

Certain cultures do not view children as human beings until specific rituals are completed, such as haircuts or name-giving ceremonies. After those rituals are performed, infanticide is rare, but killing a child before them is not considered homicide.

 
Because these deaths are typically classified as stillbirths or as situations when the kid is simply not documented at the civil registry after delivery, infanticide is typically difficult to report.

Infanticide, whether direct or indirect:

Inadequate nourishment, neglect, or negligent parenting are the first steps in indirect or passive infanticide, particularly when the child is ill.
There may not always be a discernible difference between infanticide and abortion, depending on the situation. For instance, among the Yanomami people of Brazil, if a woman becomes pregnant unintentionally, she is urged to work during the sixth or seventh month of her pregnancy, and if the foetus survives delivery, it is murdered.

unwanted conceptions:

These days, unwanted pregnancies are the most frequent reason for infanticide. This might be the result of families or women not having enough money to raise their children as well as the fact that access to modern birth control and medical abortion is restricted in many regions of the world. As a result, a lot of women become pregnant against their will or decide they simply want a particular kind of child with particular traits because they think such traits will be more beneficial for their situation.

The majority of these fatalities were brought on by passive or indirect infanticide. Mothers favoured their children to grow up quickly, intelligently, physically active, and precociously; children with the opposite traits were either denied medical attention when ill or fed less than their siblings because they were seen as having less life experience.
