human sacrifice in modern day

A group of experts claim to have discovered "a darker link between religion and the evolution of modern hierarchical societies" than has previously been proposed. They also claim that ritual human sacrifice helped maintain inherited class structures after they were formed and encouraged stratified social systems.

The researchers discovered that ritualised human sacrifice was significantly more common in extremely divided cultures than it was in equal ones after analysing dozens of societies. "Human offering may have been co-opted by elites as a divinely authorised means of social command,"  pointing out the high degree of overlap between religious and political sectors in the countries.

The list of methods for carrying out the sacrifices reads: "burning, drowning, strangulation, bludgeoning, burial, being crushed under a newly built canoe, being cut to pieces, as well as being rolled off the roof of a house and then decapitated."

The findings are, according to the investigators, "consistent with historical accounts that speculate that in order for human sacrifice to be exploited by social elites, there must first be social elites to exploit it."

The study is the most recent attempt in modern times to comprehend the cultural significance of ceremonies known as "human sacrifices," in which individuals were slaughtered in the name of a supernatural being. Such customs are known to have existed.

case study: The previous few days have seen an instance of human sacrifices in Kerala make news. The case concerns two fifty-year-old women who were allegedly subjected to "ritualistic human sacrifice" by a couple, leading to their dismemberment and burial.

According to the police, two ladies in Kerala were allegedly kidnapped, decapitated, and buried in Elanthoor village in the Pathanamthitta district as part of a 'witchcraft ritual' meant to bring them financial fortune. Two women are currently being held while one person has been arrested in connection with the case.

Shafi, also known as Rasheed, was arrested from Perumbavoor while the police detained Bhargava Singh, a traditional healer who used to treat patients at his home, and his wife
